Museum After Hours | Speak Your Mind

Thursday, September 19, 2019

5:30 - 8 PM

Every third Thursday we host Museum After Hours, when we open the doors after hours to partner with and embrace Mississippi's creative community. This month's theme, "Speak Your Mind" is inspired by the poem at the heart of the Museum's new exhibition, New Symphony of Time. Read Margaret Walker's epic reflection of the 20th Century, "This Is My Century: Black Synthesis of Time," and share your own composed thoughts during a spoken-word open mic. Take a stroll in The Art Garden, enjoy music by guitarist Granard McClendon, tour the galleries with the Teaching Fellows, get crafty with CDs in the Art Lab, watch the first installment of our Art on Film series, and spend time relaxing with family and friends in our newly designed community foyer.
