ABOUT TIGER ROGERS
Thomas Jefferson Rogers, jr., aka Tiger Rogers, has had a fascination with art and music since he was a child. While in the sixth grade, Rogers' father gave him a brand new Yamaha alto saxophone for beginner's band. His first instructor was Wayne Miller, an oboe player with Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. After graduating from Wingfield High School in Jackson in 2000, he enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi and majored in Music Performance, with an emphasis in Jazz Studies. Tiger studied jazz under the direction of Larry Panella. Rogers has opened for Marty Stuart and performed at the Mississippi Grammys with the Williams Brothers, Nanette Workman, Charlie Pride, Eddie Cotton, Dorothy Moore, Pinetop Perkins, and Cassandra Wilson. He was the youngest inductee to the Mississippi Jazz foundation (2011) and received that year's Aspiring Jazz Artist award. He currently performs with the B.B. King's All Stars Band on Holland America Line's international cruises.
