In the Galleries
Gallery talks offer visitors the chance to engage with a single work, or pairing of works, for a 30-minute talk led by Museum curators and educators, as well as local artists and scholars.
Join Dr. Louwanda Evans, Associate Professor of Sociology and Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Millsaps College, and Dr. Redell Hearn, Curator of Art and Civil Rights for the Museum and Tougaloo College as they discuss perspectives from which to view Glenn Ligon’s Condition Report, exploring thematic parallels in the journey of protest signs demanding social justice during the Civil Rights Movement first held by hand, then worn around the neck, to the Nick Cave's trademark human-shaped sculptures—called soundsuits because of the noise made when they move—created as a response to the beating of Rodney King by policemen in Los Angeles more than 25 years ago.
This program requires the purchase of an exhibition ticket for Nick Cave: Feat.. Purchase your ticket in advance HERE.
