Our mission to "engage Mississippians in the visual arts" extends beyond our collection and beyond our building. As an organization servicing our community through the visual arts, we know that art can build relationships, engage difficult subjects, and expand the potential of each Mississippian.

Little Masters (ages 5 – 7) A

During the week of Little Masters, children explore the visual arts through various practices to gain experience in collage and watercolor techniques, as well as the fundamentals of expressive abstraction.

Young Artists: Color Expressions (ages 8 – 10)

Students spend a week exploring the science and art of color by creating drawings, collages, paintings, and sculptures. Each lesson is based on artworks in the Museum’s permanent collection.

Introduction to Printmaking Practices (ages 8-10)

Students will learn what exactly “printmaking” is and why it may be an artist’s medium of choice. Three basic printmaking techniques will be introduced, including monoprints, linocuts, and collagraphs.
