Mr. Sipp | Mapping a Modern MS

Music for You Studios is the home base of Castro Coleman AKA Mr. Sipp “The Mississippi Blues Child.” Born August 25, 1976 in the town of McComb, MS, he began playing the guitar at the age of six. Mr. Sipp considers himself vocalist, songwriter, musician, composer, producer and entertainer. Castro has over 130 credits and has played on over 50 national recordings. He has traveled abroad to Russia, Germany, Scotland and beyond spreading his gift of music and sharing his McComb, Mississippi sound. He’s chosen, despite great acclaim, to remain tied to his McComb where he contributes to community cohesion.

Grapevine Pollock | Old South Winery

A genuine art encounter between members of the family-run Old South Winery in Natchez and the image of a Jackson Pollock painting. This very work is on view in our current blockbuster modern art exhibition, When Modern Was Contemporary. Come visit it in person and see what you see.

This visit was part of the Museum’s statewide Mapping a Modern Mississippi tour.

Cindy Aune | Mapping a Modern MS

Artist Cindy Aune of Water Valley paints with her fingers. She’s developed the technique over the years and sees it as a way to create intuitively. In her words, it offers her a “freedom of movement.” She is one of many makers who showcase their work at Water Valley’s artist-fueled Bozarts Gallery.

Mississippi Museum of Art Annette Trefzer | Mapping a Modern MS

Annette Trefzer says that she lives a double life. She’s an English professor by day at the University of Mississippi, and a Water Valley business owner and operator (along with her husband Mickey) at night. Their store front in Water Valley, Bozarts Gallery, is a haven for experimentation, synergy, and collaboration.
